Using Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) data, this study examines gender andeducational differences in life expectancy with cognitive impairment among the noninstitutionalizedpopulation aged 45 years and older in South Korea. First, the proportion of life expectancy spentwith cognitive impairment significantly increases in advanced ages for both men and women. Second, despite their longer length of life, women are expected to have more years of life in thecognitively impaired state. Finally, this study also finds that there are substantial differences inlife expectancy with cognitive impairment across education level for both sexes. The results showthat educational differences in the proportion of life with cognitive impairment do not decreaseeven in advanced ages of life for both men and women.
